JOB TITLE: 2x SEAMSTRESSES

Location: Mthatha, Eastern Cape
Type: 6 Months Contract (renewable based on the individual’s performance).
Start Date: 10 - February - 2025

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GARMENT CONSTRUCTION

• Assemble garments from provided patterns with precision and care.
• Use industrial sewing machines and other tools to ensure high-quality finishes.
• Sew a variety of textiles, including knitwear and printed fabrics, while adhering to specific designs.

FITTING AND ALTERATIONS

• Perform fittings and make necessary adjustments to achieve the perfect fit.
• Alter and repair garments as needed to meet customer or design requirements.

FINISHING

• Apply finishing touches such as hems, buttons, and decorative details.
• Ensure garments are completed to ABANTU’s high-quality standards.

QUALITY CONTROL

• Inspect finished pieces for any imperfections in stitching, construction, or finishing.
• Address any issues promptly and suggest solutions for improvement.

COLLABORATION

• Work closely with the design team and garment technicians to ensure design accuracy.
• Contribute ideas to improve garment construction techniques and efficiency.
• Train and mentor less experienced team members when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Proven experience as a Seamstress, with strong garment-making skills.
• Ability to sew a wide variety of fabrics, including printed and knitwear will be a bonus.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Experience working with industrial sewing machines.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and processes.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with designers and other team members.
